One of the biggest spends of Dubai expats is entertaining guests. In the beginning you we all are nice and welcoming hosts, accompanying them places that might still be a novelty for us, but after a while it might become too much, and besides we’ve seen the places a few times already.
Your friends and family are here again…
And unfortunately you already have done the major tourist attractions such as the Big Bus tour, Burj Khalifa and Gold Souq the very first/second/third time someone close visited. For example, I was waiting till my family visits to go on top on Burj Khalifa, and believe me, one visit is more than enough to satisfy my curiosity and to take some stunning photos of Dubai. So what are you going to do next time you have visitors over? UncoverDubai’s tip is to go on the Big Bus tour, for you together with your guests if you feel that you still might have missed something.
Guess what- you can still see something new even if you’ve been on these tours. Or just for your guests, if you learned everything about Sheikh Zayeed road by heart. The Big Bus tour tickets come with some lovely extras, and most of us do not use them because it is physically impossible to do all the excursions and trips that are offered by the company, especially if your guests are going to spend just a few weeks in Dubai, since there is so much to see and do here.
Thrifty offers with Big Bus
The bus tour takes two days if you really want to hop off and explore some of the areas, so these offers often are left unnoticed. The good thing about the offers is that they are valid for two weeks after the bus tour, so you can take the free tours and discover something new after your visitors have left. There are walking tours in the old district, such as Heritage walk, Downtown discovery, and Khan Murjan Discovery; there are fun excursions like Flamingo Lagoon discovery (I strongly recommend this one if you live in new Dubai and don’t take trips often to the other part of the city), there is four-hour Sharjar Tour ( I am still to take this one, because I am quite curious to see museum of Islamic civilization and the famous Blue Souq, besides it saves you trouble finding a parking).
So don’t feel bad about sending your visitors on the Bus Tour by themselves and enjoy their guided tour, and then confiscating their tickets in order to learn something new and fascinating about the city you live in. Because this place is full of surprises and hidden treasures. City Sightseeing tour offers similar packages and even free VIP Global Village tickets. (More on Global Village and whether it’s worth going there later). The two tours are rather similar, although there are some slight differences, but mainly they cover the same routes and sights, so it’s up to your family which one to take. Both of them are in the Entertainer so once you run out of one, there is the other one to back you, or better to say, your visitors, up. In this section you will read the highlights of these free tours.
