World Art Dubai 2017. Live It. Love It. Buy It.

world art dubai, dubai art, art dubai

Great news for all art lovers, connoisseurs and just people with a developed taste for aesthetic appreciation- the biggest art event of the year is here. If you cringe from the word “the biggest” as something very commonplace in Dubai and being the only attraction slogan for most Dubai events, think of it this way- more than 3,000 carefully selected pieces of art are here to satisfy the artistic void we all are having in Dubai. Besides, this is a rare event not centered around food or unlimited bubbly, or, well, more food. The event opened on Wednesday and the variety of artwork is surprisingly good. Artists and galleries from all over the world came to showcase their best pieces (some, of course, might not be the best though, as they targeted this particular market.). There is even a corner dedicated to Japan promotion so if you are not in love with Japan yet, you will definitely fall in love with its beauty after this exhibition.

The focus of the World Art Dubai event is on affordability, so it would be a good time for you to redecorate your house, considering the variety and the prices of the artworks. Get rid already of the cheap cheesy marbles, sachets and cute little postcards and make your house look like one of an adult. An adult with taste.

My tips for buying art at the World Art Dubai are as follows:

  1. You have to be in love with the artwork you want to buy.
  2. You should have an idea of where in your house it will look the best.
  3. It should be within your budget.

The first point is the most important one, so if you don’t find anything to fall in love with, do not buy anything just yet. Art taste does not come instantly, it takes years to learn art and to develop an artistic sense. Europe has a thousand years history of art, but for this part of the world it is still something new.

This is what World Art Dubai say about themselves:

“One of the things that makes World Art Dubai such a special event is the fact that anyone, regardless of their art buying experience, can come and take home an original work of art the same very day. With more than 3,000 paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs and more on sale from more than 30 countries, finding cool art suitable for every budget from $100- $20,000 has never been easier.”

It might has never been easier, but as I said before, it is not that easy. I see this event as a wonderful art exhibition to satisfy all tastes. Another great thing about World Art Dubai is what’s behind the scenes, or in this case, it’s right in front of you- workshops and art talks.  All included in the quite symbolic ticket price. This is what I have bookmarked for the next two days to come:

Friday, April 14.

3:30 pm- 3:45 pm. Demo: 7-minute speed painting by Victor Satali, Mahaweb from Beautiful People. See how an piece of art can be created in just a few minutes. discover the magic.

6:30 pm- 7:00 pm. Talk: Scrapbooking and the art of keeping memories with Hitesh Kanwar, We all have memories, learn how to make sure they last forever.

Saturday, April 15.

3:00 pm- 5:00 pm. Workshop: Crafting with thejamjar. A unique opportunity to learn how to create something with your own hands, and who knows, maybe this workshop will uncover your inner artist.

5:00 pm- 6:00 pm. Masterclass: The Art of Makeup by Lancome. Yes, we are still in Dubai and makeup plays an important role in Dubai life. Art can be very understandable.

Since there are two more days left, hurry up. The Art Dubai exhibition is open from 2 pm and is at the World Trade Center. When browsing art, do not hesitate to talk to the artists, it will help you understand the art better. As Henry Ward Beecher (he was not an artist, but he loved art) said: ” Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” I would add to that: And it is a well a reflection of the soul of the viewer. World Art Dubai gives everyone a unique opportunity to find what’s inside your soul.
