I would like to start with a disclaimer that I am not a rugby fan. I do watch it occasionally but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to watch it if it’s not available with just one click of my remote control. But, I have a few friends who are fans and they asked me to put together a list of places, which broadcast Super Rugby.
The problem is when you search for Dubai Sports Bars, the results might give an impression that the sports bars scene is striving in Dubai. However, after a careful research and having eliminated all the places that seemed dodgy or had last social media update in 2011, I ended up with a list of about 10 decent sports bars. I reached all of them via Internet (email or social media), and in the end was left with a list of three.
Most of the places simply didn’t reply and one- The Underground Pub in Dubai Marina- replied with the following: Our FO team (what exactly is FO team?) will be able to assist you further 04 399 5000. Really, you have time on your hand for this message this but cannot give me with a simple answer? In any case, if you are willing to call them and find out, you know now how to reach them.
Anyway, even though Dubai is just a big village, the three bars I ended up with are very good, with high quality food and excellent drinks deals. Here is the list of Dubai Sports Bars that show Super Rugby. There are two more weeks left, so you can easily try all of them.
Everyone’s favorite laid back place on the Palm opened its doors to rugby fans already a while ago. Besides large screens and party atmosphere, they also have their Palm Weekend deal, when you can get four drinks and a meal between 12-7pm for 140AED. On Saturdays the deal is extended till 10 p.m. Yay! If you don’t want a meal, you can just have five drinks for the same price. Considering the usual alcohol prices in Dubai, this is a pretty good deal. If you like rugby parties, Bidi Bondi is for you!

Girders and Girder’s Garden.
Claiming to be the best spots bar in town, they do not disappoint with their traditional British cuisine and their pretty large screens. There are always some specials going on, be it a wholesome breakfast or a ribs bbq. Good news is that Super Rugby coincides with the Happy Hour, which is happening twice a day! From 4pm to 8pm and 12am – 2am. Therefore, you can start before the game and continue with a celebration after.

Compared to the previous two, this is the most upscale place. Even their email was upscale with them appreciating greatly my interest. The complicated name is short for New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. As you can guess, this is the ultimate rugby hub in Downtown Dubai where the fans can enjoy food from these three countries while watching their favorite games. Even though the bar seems refined, the atmosphere is super friendly and laid-back.
Nezesaussi Grill is open Sunday to Wednesday from 4.00 pm until 2.00 am; Thursday from 12.00 pm until 2.00 am and Friday and Saturday 9.00 am until 2.00 am. Furthermore, they have daily happy hour deal of reduced price on selected house beverage from 5.00pm-7.00pm.
